How does the color extraction algorithm work?

The tool uses a median cut color quantization algorithm. It samples pixels from your image via the Canvas API, recursively splits them along the axis with the largest color range, and averages each region to find the most representative dominant colors.

Is my image uploaded to a server?

No. Your image stays on your device. The Color Palette Extractor uses the browser Canvas API to read pixel data locally. No image data is ever sent to any server.

What image formats are supported?

Any image format supported by your browser — including PNG, JPG/JPEG, WEBP, GIF, and SVG. Most modern browsers support all of these.

How do I use the extracted colors in my code?
